After talking about some Bongo-branded clothing on IRC a little while ago, I had a little chat to a friend who's dad is the managing director of P&M Embroidery (they wouldn't win any prizes for their website, but I hear they have had contracts with Nike and X-Box 360..). Anyway, I am likely (but not definitely) to be able to get a discount on a purchase with them, which is good!

What needs to be decided though is what people want? Personally, I like polo shirts, so I would like something like this (maybe not white). But I will be able to make some enquiries of cost and the procedure once we've decided...

I think the way forward will be to buy the actual clothing ourselves and give them to the embroider. For something embroidered roughly the same size of the Debian logo on the polo mentioned before, I was very roughly quoted at 50GBP for 20 shirts, which does sound extremely reasonable.

So if you have any input, discuss this either on IRC or on this mailing list post.

An interesting bug I found in my n800 is shown below:

The HTTP proxy settings have been entered, however they haven't been enabled- note the "Use Proxy" checkbox is not checked; and proxy details are greyed-out.

However, this doesn't quite work as expected. Upon connecting to a network, I get scenes like this:

Application manager cannot refresh Application lists.

Media cannot be streamed.

Feeds cannot be added to the Feed reader.

However, the web-browser will browse happily!

The way around this is to specify no proxy settings as follows:

This looks as if its a GConf problem- I'll check it out when I'm back on a computer. I'm finding the Maemo subversion repository a bit of a labyrinth though!

Update: This bug has already been reported on the Maemo bugzilla.

The login screen of Bongo loads successfully and even looks nice on the reduced-size screen. However, upon trying to log-in:

Some weirdness about it:

• No President Palmer
• There's a new person in charge of CTU
• No Tony (or is there?) or Michelle
• CTU seems a different building
• too many new people (Edgar, that new girl, Curtis); lucky Chloe is still there though (for a bit)

I've only just started though, so don't cry if I'm entirely wrong.

Another thing that I've learned today is never to research 24 on the internet- I found out more than I wanted to know and now I'm kicking myself about it, although the site almeidaisgod.com is rather amusing...

My school's wireless network has two areas:

• WPA-secured area, with a passkey that I know
• WEP EAP-MSCHAPv2 secured area, requiring a user name & password (which I have)

The WPA area is fine- I can connect. However, this bug in the Nokia N800 is obviously preventing me reach the second, of course, being the area I'm more likely to use the n800 in.. There are a few solutions: I think the famous wpa_supplicant would fix this problem. The other solution is to use Open1x, which of course looks as if it'd definitely fix this. So that'd be my immediate reaction for a normal Linux computer, however, this is an N800. I'm looking into it..

The other issue sounds a little ridiculous, but proxy user names and passwords are not allowed in the N800. To use the proxy server at school this requires a user name and password, and as there's no-where to enter these, then this does not work. Looking at the osso-feed-reader (Liferea) source it seems to use the gconf values, but it has been reported that simply adding gconf values is not a fix.

These two things are the most annoying problems with it at the moment! There are some other annoying things but I'll sum them up later. I'd better satisfy my developer discount somehow though..!

After managing to sort problems with ordering, and then delivering, I recceived my Nokia N800. It certainly is great. I'll post more about it later.

As others will be able to tell you, I am not fond of using anything but different from. Things like different to bring shivers to my spine.
